Juan de Marcos Gonzalez with Gordon Paulsen - March 2009 Guiarist and singer, composer/arranger and bandleader Juan de Marcos Gonzalez, who has been called "the Quincy Jones of Cuba," has a mission to show the world the wealth, diversity and vitality of Cuban music. His work with the Afro-Cuban All Stars, the Buena Vista Social Club with Ry Cooder, Ruben González, Ibrahim Ferrer, Sierra Maestra and other artists has raised the profile of Cuban music throughout the world. He brought the Afro-Cuban All Stars to West High in Iowa City for a "Hancher Presents" concert in March 2009.

From her legendary 1950s trio at the Hickory House on New York's famed 52nd Street to her 25 years as host of NPR's longest-running cultural program, "Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz", she has thrilled jazz fans with her prodigious gifts as an improviser, interpreter and composer. Mike Vax with Bob Stewart - February 2004 Trumpeter Mike Vax performed at Coe College's 2004 Jazz Summit in February.
