NewsSpring On-Air Fund Drive Continues On-Line Thanks to everyone who has done their part so to keep the jazz playing on KCCK. So far, our Spring Pledge Drive has raised over $55,000. Thanks to the nearly 400 people who pledged so far, especially new members like David Woodward of Clear Lake, who won tickets to see Chick Corea. But we still need to raise around $30,000 by June 30 through mailings, telemarketing and special events. To help, click here to pledge on-line. Thank you gifts include our "Got Jazz" t-shirt for new members at the $75 level, the new "Got Jazz" coffee mug at the $120 level, or an Insignia Portable HD Radio for $240. Or become a member of the CD of the Month Club for $500. Corridor Jazz Project Concert April 6 Nine high school jazz bands in the Cultural Corridor will join forces onstage Tuesday, April 6, at 6:30 p.m. in the Concert Hall at Prairie High School in celebration of the release of a compilation CD featuring the work of all nine bands. Tickets are available at the participating high schools or at West Music in Coralville and in Marion and can be purchased on-line. Cost is $10, $5 when purchased from a participating school. Proceeds benefit the jazz bands at the schools. The program matches each school's top jazz band with a professional jazz player, who will perform as a guest soloist with the band during the concert. The song was professionally recorded earlier this year by Karrleton Recording and Catamount Studios. CDs will be made available to each school to sell and keep the proceeds. CDs will also be available for sale to the public at the concert, through KCCK, at Barnes & Noble in Cedar Rapids and at Real Records in Iowa City. The Corridor Jazz Project is a jazz education and mentoring program for jazz band students created by KCCK. Listen To KCCK Anywhere!
