The KCCK Featured CD for June is
"Toussaintville" by
Swingadelic. This 11-piece 'little big band' out of Hoboken, New Jersey, made a big splash with their last CD, a tribute to the oft-overlooked pianist Duke Pearson. This time out they set their sights on New Orleans songwriter, pianist, producer and arranger Allen Toussaint, whose hits supplied much of the R&B and pop soundtrack from the late-Fifties through the mid-Seventies. Swingadelic takes a collection of these songs and arranges them in their own robust, rollicking big band style, creating a gem of a disc.
