Craig explores different areas of violinist Michael White’s diverse recording career. We’ll hear recordings that feature White on several albums from the legendary group The Fourth Way, co-founded with Mike Nock, Eddie Marshall, and Ron McLure. We’ll also focus on his five Impulse recordings, and some of his work with jazz reedman, John Handy.

Multi-instrumentalist Ed East, bandleader of the acclaimed Orquesta Alto Maiz, brought a few of his best friends to the Iowa City Jazz Festival Side Stage for a powerhouse Latin Jazz jam. Plus, trombonist Levi Temple and his Sextet (all students or alum of the UNI Music program) served up a refreshing set of originals influenced by R&B, hip-hop, ECM, and traditional jazz.

Morgan Guerin’s Many Dimensions
Host Christian McBride dives into the multi-dimensional mind of saxophonist, bassist, drummer, keyboardist, producer, composer, and engineer Morgan Guerin, whose solo work and collaborations with the likes of Esperanza Spalding and Terri Lyne Carrington have put him in a class of his own. Plus, we visit his home studio to hear tracks from his archives and session breakdowns from his record, “Tales of The Facade”.
