Bob’s Baker’s Dozen: Leroy Carr
Bluesman Leroy Carr’s short, prolific career in the late 1920’s and early 1930’s was not without its impact. Carr was a considerable influence on the vocal styles of Nat King Cole, Ray Charles, and T-Bone Walker. Compositions like “Blues Before Sunrise” and “Hurry Down Sunshine” are covered today. Carr’s works are among the go-to songs for the Count Basie Orchestra, Memphis Slim, and Eric Clapton.
