The Diplomats at Jazz Under the Stars

The Diplomats of Solid Sound, featuring their vocal trio, the Diplomettes, brought a mix of jazzy groove and soulful blues to the last great party of the summer. Opening the show was student group Ship of Fools, the premier band from the Eastern Iowa Arts Academy.

Nate Smith’s Groovy Pocket  

Drummer Nate Smith, who is often celebrated for his groovy “pocket,” finds a new dimension to his craft as a string arranger. Hear the premiere of his sextet Kinfolk, with a double string quartet featuring members of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. It’s Nate Smith as you’ve never heard him before.
