25 Guest Djs-Williamsburg

Aurin Feldman and Cooper Daugherty from Williamsburg Jazz Outlet are proud of the season that capped off their senior year. They say that director Mrs. Grant throws some pretty challenging literature at them throughout the year, and that she really helped them step up their solo game.

25 Guest Djs-Kennedy

It was another stellar season for Kennedy Jazz One. The band proved their debut last year at Iowa Jazz Championships (first in school history), was no fluke. They returned and placed in the Top 8.

Andrew Campbell, Kieran Glessner, and Jeanette Inancoreke break it down for us.

Andrew, Kieran, and Jeanette’s Playlist:

  • John Santos & the Machete Ensemble, “Elegua Ago”
  • Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, “Black and Tan Fantasy (with Wynton Marsalis)”
  • SEAT BELTS, “Rush”
  • Huntertones, “Clutch (Live)”
  • Masayoshi Takanaka, “Oh! Tengo Suerte”
  • Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School Jazz One featuring Laci McHenry, “What Am I Here For?”

25 Guest Djs-City

Liv Leman, Janie Owens, Oliver Palmer, and Marko Perencevich from City High are all planning to continue with music after high school. So, we won’t be surprised to see one or more of them return as Corridor Jazz guest artists in the future, as past City alums like Kolbe Schnoebelen have done! City had another great season, placing in the top 8 at the Iowa Jazz Championships, performing with trombone great Michael Dease, and made many other great memories, too.

25 Guest Djs-Solon

Kardyn Huynh, Gwen LaGrange, and Brady Evers from the Solon Jazz Orchestra recap their year in jazz band, talk about school activities like playing in a mariachi band formed by their director, Mr. Cervantez, and the near-calamity they experienced on their Corridor Jazz recording day.

Brady, Gwen, and Kardyn’s Playlist:

  • Jaco Pastorius, “Soul Intro / The Chicken (Live 1981)”
  • Duke Ellington and His Orchestra, “Ko-Ko”
  • Solon High School Jazz Orchestra featuring Gerard Estella, “Body and Soul”
  • Mark Murphy, “Stolen Moments”
  • Ray Charles, “I Believe to My Soul”
  • Mt. Vernon Swingin’ Stangs featuring Desmond Cervantes, “Feels So Good”
  • Solon High School Jazz Orchestra featuring Elizabeth Hand, “Good Vibes”
