Best of the Fest Schedule

Lake Street Dive at the 2010 Iowa City Jazz Festival

Thanks to everyone who voted for their favorite Iowa City Jazz Festival performance. KCCK’s Best of the Fest kicks off at 5pm on Friday, with  performances chosen by Jazz Fest co-founders Mark Ginsberg and Steve Grismore.

Steve chose “Mumbo Jumbo – A Tribute to Paul Motian,” the 2012 Festival closer led by drummer (and Jazz Fest favorite), Matt Wilson.  Mark picked 2010’s Lake Street Dive, featuring Iowa City native Bridget Kearney. Then, it’s 30+hours of unforgettable Iowa City performances by artists including Bill Frisell, the Yellowjackets, Poncho Sanchez, Trombone Shorty, Lavay Smith and Her Red-Hot Skillet Lickers, and many more.

We’ve also asked musicians, Jazz Fest organizers, and long-time fans to share their memories before each performance. The schedule is below, along with fan who introduces the segment.
