Every month, KCCK calls your attention to a new release we think is especially noteworthy. The KCCK Featured Album for November is “25 Years of Phatness” from Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band. The album celebrates a quarter century of the intricate ensemble composing and arranging, serious grooves, ridiculous chops, burning solos, and the humor and personality that have defined the band from the beginning. The album combines newly imagined versions of Phat Band favorites with new compositions, showcasing Mr. Goodwin’s range as a composer, arranger and pianist.. It also serves as a fitting homage to the bandleader, who passed away in December at the age of 70.”25 Years of Phatness” from Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band, on GoodGunn Records, is KCCK’s Featured Album for November.
