Culture Crawl 915 “70.1 Surround Sound”
Orchestra Iowa’s next Film with Live Orchestra is “E.T,” a movie full of emotion and a soundtrack full of the genius of John Williams. This is not an easy cruise for the Orchestra. The music is very difficult, with few breaks, and Tim Hankewich must keep all the musicians in sync with the video.
You’ll hear Tim go into detail about all the multi-tasking he must do, and also hear about how he thinks things well go compared to a recent guest conduction appearance with the San Jose Symphony doing the same piece.
May 3 and 4 at the Paramount Theatre. Tickets at www.artsiowa.com.

KCCK’s Featured Album for May 2024
The KCCK Featured Album for May is “D-Day” by Monty Alexander. June 6, 2024 will mark the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings of World War II. It’s also the day Monty turns 80-years-old! It’s a highly symbolic historical concordance which the great Jamaican musician naturally embraces, since the name he was given pays homage to the famous British liberator, General Bernard Montgomery. The disc contains a number of iconic compositions written in wartime alongside Alexander’s originals inspired by the conflict and its extraordinary ending. “D-Day” is on PeeWee Records. Purchase
